Trade Compliance Officer

Role & Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and maintain trade compliance policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and company standards.
Monitor and ensure compliance with export controls, import regulations, sanctions, and other international trade laws governing the company’s activities.
Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify potential compliance risks and gaps in trade-related processes and documentation.
Provide guidance and training to employees on trade compliance requirements, including export classifications, license determinations, and restricted party screenings.
Serve as the primary point of contact for trade compliance inquiries and issues, both internally and externally.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including legal, finance, supply chain, and operations teams, to address trade compliance matters and support business activities.
Manage trade compliance documentation, records, and reporting obligations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Stay informed about changes in trade regulations and industry best practices, and update internal policies and procedures accordingly.
Assist in the development and implementation of compliance-related initiatives and projects as needed.

Skills & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in international trade, business administration, or related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., Certified Export Compliance Officer) is a plus.
Minimum of X years of experience in trade compliance, preferably in a technology or defense-related industry.
In-depth knowledge of export control regulations (e.g., ITAR, EAR), import/export laws, sanctions programs, and other trade compliance requirements.
Experience with export classification, licensing, and compliance screening software/tools (e.g., SAP GTS, Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) classification tools, restricted party screening databases).
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to business activities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with defense and security industry standards and practices is desirable.
Authorization to work in the relevant country/location.
