Cybersecurity Risk Manager
Role Summary
The Cybersecurity Risk Manager is responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing cybersecurity risks across the organization. This is a hands-on role requiring active involvement in risk assessments, control implementation, and remediation activities to ensure the protection of systems, data, and operations. The role focuses on strengthening the organization’s security posture while ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
Role and Responsibilities
• Conduct hands-on cybersecurity risk assessments across systems, applications, and infrastructure
• Identify, evaluate, and document security risks, vulnerabilities, and control gaps
• Develop and implement risk mitigation and remediation plans
• Work closely with IT, security, and business teams to embed risk management practices
• Perform control testing and validation to ensure effectiveness of security measures
• Support governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) activities and frameworks
• Maintain risk registers and provide regular reporting to stakeholders and leadership
• Ensure alignment with industry standards (ISO 27001, NIST, etc.) and regulatory requirements
• Assist in incident response and post-incident risk analysis where required
• Drive continuous improvement of cybersecurity risk management processes
Skills and Experience
• Proven experience in cybersecurity risk management in a hands-on capacity
• Strong knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS)
• Experience in identifying vulnerabilities and implementing practical remediation actions
• Familiarity with GRC tools and risk management platforms
• Understanding of network security, cloud security, and application security principles
• Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., banking, financial services) is preferred
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a contract environment
• Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, CRISC, ISO 27001) are an advantage
