Job Specification: Senior Product Manager – Alexa User Acceptance Testing
Role Summary
Amazon Alexa is the world’s leading AI-powered voice assistant, powering millions of devices and delivering delightful, helpful experiences every day. We are seeking a customer obsessed Senior Product Manager to own the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) strategy and execution for Alexa’s core features, enhancements, and AI-driven capabilities (voice, multimodal, smart home, skills, and daily essentials).
In this role, you will act as the single-threaded owner of UAT processes, ensuring every Alexa launch meets the highest bar for quality, usability, and customer delight. You will bridge product strategy, engineering execution, and real-world customer validation working backwards from the customer to define what “done” looks like and driving launch readiness decisions that protect the Alexa brand.
You will collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Science, Design, QA, User Research, and Operations teams while continuously improving UAT frameworks as Alexa evolves with generative AI and new modalities.
Key Job Responsibilities
• Own the end-to-end UAT strategy for Alexa features: define acceptance criteria, test plans, success metrics, and risk-based testing scope.
• Partner with feature Product Managers and Engineering to translate product requirements into clear, measurable UAT cases that reflect real customer journeys (voice-first, multi-device, privacy-sensitive scenarios).
• Design, recruit for, and execute large-scale internal and external UAT programs (beta testers, early-access customers, developers, and diverse user cohorts).
• Analyze UAT results, qualitative feedback, telemetry, and bug data to identify high-impact issues; prioritize fixes and influence roadmap trade-offs.
• Drive launch-gate decisions: present UAT outcomes to leadership and recommend go/no-go with clear risk mitigation plans.
• Build scalable UAT frameworks, tools, and automation (integrating with Alexa’s testing infrastructure) to increase coverage and velocity as the product surface area grows.
• Champion customer obsession in testing—ensure UAT scenarios mirror diverse global usage patterns, accessibility needs, and edge cases.
• Establish KPIs for UAT effectiveness (e.g., escape rate, customer satisfaction post-launch, issue resolution time) and continuously improve the process.
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, and Science teams to integrate UAT into the CI/CD pipeline for faster, higher-quality releases.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience).
• 2-5 years of product management experience in consumer software, AI/ML products, voice interfaces, smart devices, or mobile apps.
• Demonstrated experience owning or heavily influencing User Acceptance Testing, beta programs, or quality validation processes in an agile environment.
• Strong analytical skills with proven ability to use data (telemetry, customer feedback, A/B tests) to drive decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence senior stakeholders and present complex trade-offs clearly.
• Experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional teams with high bar for quality and customer experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience with Alexa, other voice assistants, generative AI products, or consumer hardware ecosystems.
• Deep familiarity with testing methodologies, tools (Jira, TestRail, Confluence, or equivalent), and user-research practices.
• Technical depth to engage with engineering and science teams on AI, NLP, device integration, and privacy topics.
• Proven track record of improving testing processes that reduced post-launch defects or accelerated release cycles.
• Passion for voice AI and a track record of delighting customers through high-quality product experiences.
• Alignment with Amazon Leadership Principles (Customer Obsession, Ownership, Invent & Simplify, Are Right A Lot, Learn and Be Curious, etc.).
