System Development Engineer

Job Title – Systems Development Engineer
Location – EU – Remote with regular travel to Belgium
Type – Contract/Freelance
Duration – 12 Months
Working Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Our client is expanding their engineering team to develop the next-generation packaging machine. As part of their high-performing development team, the successful candidate will contribute to creating innovative solutions from concept to implementation at their shopfloor in Belgium.

This position requires advanced expertise in programming with either Codesys or Beckhoff TwinCAT. The successful candidate will independently handle the programming and testing of a designated machine module, while actively collaborating with the wider project team. Responsibilities include writing PLC code, contributing to technical planning, and taking part in design discussions and code reviews. A solid foundation in Object-Oriented Programming and in-depth knowledge of complex machine motion control, such as CAM profiles, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
Design, debug and optimize controls code
Develop a specific machine modules independently as owner
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams
Participate in technical planning and code reviews

Basic Qualifications:
Expert-level Codesys or Beckhoff TwinCAT programming
Strong background in Object-Oriented Programming
Advanced machine motion control experience (CAM-Profiles)
Codesys SoftMotion experience
Proven track record in industrial automation projects
Fluent English communication skills
