Job Title – Control Systems Engineer
Type: Freelance/Contract
Location: EU – Hybrid (50% on-site, 50% remote)
Commissioning Location: Paris (June–October)
We are seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to support the design, development, and commissioning of industrial automation systems across EU-based projects. This role involves working on live production environments, delivering high-quality PLC programming, and managing automation projects from initial design through to commissioning. The engineer will collaborate with internal teams, OEMs, and international stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and program industrial control systems using Siemens PLC platforms, Codesys, and Beckhoff automation systems.
• Develop PLC software with strong emphasis on Structured Text (ST).
• Lead and support commissioning activities within live production environments.
• Manage automation projects end-to-end, from concept and design through implementation and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex control system and electrical issues.
• Collaborate with international OEMs, equipment vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Produce and maintain clear, detailed technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with controls architecture standards and electrical system requirements.
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with industrial control systems.
• Strong experience with Siemens PLC platforms, Codesys development environment, and Beckhoff automation systems.
• Proven commissioning experience in live production environments.
• Advanced PLC programming expertise, particularly in Structured Text (ST).
• Solid understanding of electrical systems, controls architecture, and troubleshooting methodologies.
• Fluent English (verbal and written).
Preferred Qualifications
• Codesys software development experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading automation projects.
• Experience in electrical system design and implementation.
• Strong project planning, execution, and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
• Experience working with international stakeholders and OEM partners.
