Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Site Manager to support the on-site delivery of a hyperscale data centre construction project in Milan. This 12-month freelance role is key to managing daily construction activities, enforcing safety and quality standards, and ensuring site progress aligns with the master schedule.
As Site Manager, you will act as the primary on-site liaison between contractors, project managers, and technical teams. You will be responsible for supervising subcontractor execution, maintaining site safety compliance, and supporting overall coordination across all workstreams. This is a fast-paced environment where clear communication and decisive action are critical to success.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead day-to-day construction site operations and serve as the on-site representative for progress, safety, and coordination.
• Supervise general contractors and subcontractors to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and to approved specifications.
• Monitor construction progress against schedule; escalate risks and support corrective action planning with the Construction Manager.
• Enforce compliance with local health and safety regulations, environmental controls, and site security protocols.
• Coordinate field activities with MEPF, commissioning, logistics, and QA/QC teams to ensure cross-disciplinary alignment.
• Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, and site safety inspections.
• Manage delivery, storage, and tracking of materials, plant, and equipment on-site.
• Maintain detailed site logs, documenting decisions, inspections, incidents, and key milestones.
• Assist with closeout procedures, including punch-list resolution and handover readiness.
• Interface with local regulatory bodies, utilities, and inspection authorities as needed to maintain compliance.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Construction Management, Civil
• Engineering, or a related field – OR – At least 5+ years of site management experience on large-scale commercial, industrial, or mission-critical projects.
• Proven experience in managing subcontractor teams and coordinating multiple trades in high-intensity environments.
• Strong understanding of construction workflows, site logistics, and local HSE regulations.
• Fluent in Italian and English, written and spoken – essential for communication with local trades and international stakeholders.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, construction schedules, and method statements.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience delivering projects in mission-critical environments such as data centres, hospitals, or industrial facilities.
• Familiarity with hyperscale client delivery standards and digital site documentation workflows.
• Health and safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a hands-on approach
• Experience with digital site management tools and reporting platforms such as Procore, BIM 360, or PlanGrid
