Job Title – AI Tech Lead

Our client’s robotics team is seeking an experienced Tech Lead to join its Artificial General Intelligence Team in Berlin. In this hands-on role, you will apply the latest trends in AI planning research to solve real-world robotics problems. The team is focused on algorithmic innovation: combining existing planning and search algorithms to address robotics challenges in new, innovative ways.
You will collaborate with a team of engineers and scientists conducting research experiments and building planning systems used by other science and engineering teams.
We are looking for candidates with hands-on experience as a software engineer who have also led engineering teams in a scientific context. Ideal candidates will have played a leading role in major design and implementation decisions and actively contributed to the team’s software engineering efforts.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Drive software and algorithmic design decisions
• Define engineering work packages, see them through completion, drive completion, and adjust along the way
• Design and build ML pipelines from data generation to model evaluation to production readiness
• Be actively involved in software engineering
Basic Qualifications
• At least 5 years of experience as a software engineer
• At least two years as a tech lead, engineering lead, engineering manager, or similar role involving ML solution development
• Strong understanding of machine learning, particularly Deep Learning and Transformer Models
• Master’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
• Practical experience in training Transformer models
• Experience as a tech lead in a large tech environment
• Proven ability to transform research insights into production-ready software
• Experience as an applied scientist
• Ph.D. in computer science, physics, mathematics, or any related field
