Employment Type: Contract / Project Assignment
Industry: Construction / Data Centres / Mission Critical Infrastructure
Client Environment: Global Hyperscale / Data Centre Projects

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety (H&S) Consultant to support major construction projects across the EMEA region.
The successful candidate will act as the client’s on-site Health & Safety representative, working closely with Construction Managers, General Contractors (GCs), subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure that construction activities are executed safely and in compliance with applicable legislation, project requirements, and industry best practices.
This is a hands-on, site-based position requiring regular site inspections, contractor engagement, safety audits, risk assessment reviews, incident investigations, corrective-action tracking, and H&S performance reporting.

Key Responsibilities
Site Health & Safety Management
• Conduct regular H&S inspections and a minimum of two site walks per working day, covering active construction areas.
• Identify unsafe conditions, behaviours, and potential hazards and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
• Participate in daily toolbox talks and understand planned construction activities and associated risks.
• Attend and review Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA), pre-task planning activities, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Work closely with the Construction Manager and General Contractor to address H&S concerns.
• Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with project H&S requirements and applicable local legislation.
• Exercise Stop Work Authority where an activity presents imminent danger or an Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health (IDLH) condition.
Audits & Compliance
• Conduct weekly Health & Safety audits and maintain accurate records of findings.
• Record and track medium- and high-risk safety observations using Procore or other approved project management/H&S systems.
• Review contractor Construction Safety Management Plans (CSMPs).
• Review contractor corrective-action plans and verify that identified issues have been appropriately closed.
• Support compliance with applicable local H&S regulations and recognised management systems such as ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001.
• Provide recommendations for corrective and preventive actions based on site observations and audit findings.
Incident Investigation
• Support and oversee investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses.
• Review contractor incident investigation reports and Root Cause Analyses (RCA).
• Participate in post-incident review meetings.
• Verify that corrective and preventive actions resulting from investigations are implemented and closed.
• Escalate significant H&S risks and incidents to relevant project stakeholders.
Reporting & Performance Monitoring
• Prepare and submit weekly and monthly H&S reports and assessments.
• Maintain accurate documentation of safety observations, audits, incidents, and corrective actions.
• Review project H&S performance metrics and validate the accuracy and completeness of contractor data.
• Identify trends, recurring risks, and areas requiring improvement.
• Support quarterly assessments of General Contractor H&S performance.
• Provide supporting documentation and evidence for contractor performance reviews.

Candidate Requirements
Essential
• Bachelor’s degree or advanced technical qualification in Health & Safety, Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline, OR significant equivalent H&S management experience.
• Minimum 3 years of Health & Safety experience within the construction sector.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and local H&S legislation.
• Practical experience reviewing:
o Risk Assessments
o Method Statements / RAMS
o Construction Safety Management Plans (CSMP)
o Activity Hazard Analyses / Job Hazard Analyses
• Experience conducting construction site H&S inspections and formal audits.
• Experience with incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis.
• Working knowledge of ISO 45001 and/or OHSAS 18001.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Comfortable working full-time in an active construction-site environment.

Highly Desirable
• Previous experience supporting data centre, mission-critical, industrial, logistics, or large-scale construction projects.
• Previous experience working with global clients, hyperscalers, or multinational General Contractors.
• Experience using Procore or similar construction/H&S management platforms.
• Recognised H&S qualifications/certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent local certification.
• Experience working in complex projects involving multiple contractors and subcontractors.
• Strong understanding of high-risk construction activities including electrical works, lifting operations, working at height, confined spaces, and energisation activities.

Key Competencies
We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate:
• Strong on-site safety presence
• Ability to challenge unsafe practices professionally
• Excellent hazard identification skills
• Strong contractor-management capability
• Attention to detail and accurate reporting
• Confidence communicating with Construction Managers and senior project stakeholders
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced construction environment
• Strong follow-up and corrective-action management
• Proactive approach to preventing incidents rather than simply reporting them

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is not purely a compliance or office-based H&S professional.
We are looking for someone with strong hands-on construction-site experience who is comfortable walking active sites, engaging directly with contractors, reviewing RAMS and safety documentation, identifying hazards, investigating incidents, conducting audits, and challenging unsafe work when necessary.
Experience within data centre or mission-critical construction environments would be particularly advantageous.
