Simulation Engineer – FlexSim (Logistics & AI)
Company: Linnk Group
Type: Freelance / Contract
Location: Remote
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Duration: Initial 3 Months (up to 12 Months) (Potential Extension)
Role Overview
Linnk Group is seeking an experienced Simulation Engineer with strong FlexSim expertise to support the development of advanced logistics simulation models for large-scale warehouse and distribution operations.
The successful candidate will build upon existing process simulations, validating models against operational data and developing end-to-end digital simulations of warehouse and distribution centre processes. A key focus of the role is creating reusable, self-service simulation models that enable non-technical users to run and adapt simulations independently through clear methodologies and documentation.
Working closely with engineering, operations and project stakeholders, you will gather business requirements, develop bespoke simulation studies, analyse operational performance and present data-driven recommendations. You will also contribute to the development of AI-enabled simulation capabilities, helping expand in-house modelling and automation capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Simulation Development & Modelling
– Develop, maintain and enhance complex FlexSim simulation models for warehouse and logistics operations.
– Build scalable, reusable simulation models covering process flows, object flows, people flows and operational scenarios.
– Create detailed 3D simulation environments, including animations and visual representations.
– Validate simulation models using operational throughput and process data to ensure accuracy.
– Continuously improve simulation capability by refining existing models and methodologies.
Simulation Analysis & Project Delivery
– Gather business requirements from internal stakeholders and translate them into simulation studies.
– Review layouts, operational processes and throughput data to develop accurate simulation models.
– Configure and adapt existing models to support different operational scenarios.
– Execute simulation studies and analyse results to identify optimisation opportunities.
– Present findings and recommendations clearly to engineering, operational and leadership teams.
Process Improvement & Standardisation
– Develop self-service simulation models that can be used by non-simulation specialists.
– Produce user guides, methodologies and documentation to support wider adoption.
– Standardise simulation frameworks, templates and modelling best practices.
– Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and operational workflows.
AI & Innovation
– Support the development of AI-powered simulation capabilities and intelligent modelling tools.
– Contribute to automation initiatives that improve simulation development and analysis.
– Explore the use of AI agents to enhance modelling efficiency and expand internal simulation capabilities.
– Help drive the long-term evolution of simulation and digital engineering capabilities.
Basic Qualifications
– 3+ years’ experience developing simulation models using FlexSim.
– Experience modelling logistics, warehouse, manufacturing or industrial processes.
– Strong understanding of process flow, object flow, people flow and scenario modelling.
– Experience building adaptable and reusable simulation models.
– Experience validating simulation models against operational or production data.
– Strong process mapping and requirements gathering skills.
– Ability to interpret layouts, operational processes and throughput data.
– Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
– Experience developing self-service simulation tools for business users.
– Experience within warehouse, fulfilment, logistics or distribution environments.
– Exposure to AI tools, AI agents or intelligent automation technologies.
– Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks or Inventor.
– Experience working across multiple simulation platforms.
Working Environment
– Hybrid or remote working with occasional travel as required.
– 12-month contract with the potential for extension.
– Opportunity to work on innovative logistics, engineering and operational optimisation projects.
– Collaborative environment working alongside engineering, operations and digital transformation teams.
